About NFSAW
Where Pets Become Family

Our
History
Established in 1977
NFSAW began as a foster-based organization dedicated to pet adoption, spay/neuter initiatives, and humane education. Recognizing the challenge of a high number of stray animals in the area, our founders passionately worked towards creating a solution. In 1991, NFSAW took a monumental step by breaking ground and building a dedicated shelter facility. This marked a significant turning point, leading to a substantial decrease in the number of stray animals in New Fairfield and Sherman. Our commitment to change and growth has been unwavering.
